Girly Day
A friend of mine, Linda offered to take me somewhere for my birthday. Princess Lizzy was having a hard time being around "all these boys all the time!" I told her that maybe she could join Linda and me for our Grirly Day. She loved this idea and said she wanted to see the butterflies. Linda agreed and she treated Lizzy and I to a day at White River Gardens and the Indianapolis Zoo. We had a fabulous time and the weather was perfect. Lizzy ate up having our undivided attention.
The butterflies were very pretty and colorful. Lizzy chased
them 
and tried to "hold" a few. There were indoor gardens and outdoor gardens. Of course there were not as many butterflies outdoors, but there were statues of turtles, frogs, etc. They also had the hedges planted/trimmed to look like a knot garden. There was a beautiful area that looked like an beautiful place to have a wedding.
We then went and saw the kimodo dragons. They were very large, but not as impressive as I thought they would be. And there were only two of them. But now we can say we saw one. On our way to the "dragons" we went through the plains. Lizzy was on a mission though and sped through this area. Then we saw the dolphin show and had lunch. Next we visited the Oceans building and then the Deserts building. On our way out we went through the Forests area~lions and tigers and bears, OH my! LOL
Then we headed home and thanked Linda for a wonderful time. She said she had a great time too. Linda goes to our church and has a 14 year-old son. She loved hanging out with the girls and we loved hanging out with her!

We now have a dog!
He adopted us. Well, we kind of rescued him from the neighbor kids who were trying to sell him to us for $150. They didn't own him and were NOT nice to him and even threw sticks at our cat who ran up the tree when the dog chased him.Oh, by-the-way, his name is Buddy. The kids named him. We took Buddy to the vet today and he didn't have a microchip. The vet tech said he was probably around 7-8 months old.We had him vaccinated and blood and stool checks. All is okie dokie. He may have dysplasia in his hips. He seemed to be limping some when we first met him and he had a little trouble getting in and out of the van. The vet suggested we get him x-rays as he seemed "a little weird back there". I'm not sure I want the expense of doing that. I have a friend who is an animal advocate and she offered to pay for his vet visit. He will also be neutered and she volunteers at FACE where they do those kinds of things at a low rate.
Other than being a puppy who likes to chew on everything and jump up a lot, he is a very good dog. He barks very little and seems to love putting up the all the kids' attention. The vet tech said that he looked like he had some chow in him, but he's mostly mutt!
I'm not really a live-with-dog person. We had a beagle before I divorced and it was not a pleasant experien
ce for me. I wasn't raised with dogs, so I'm looking at this as an adventure. Micah was chanting, "We get to keep Buddy forever!" on our way home from the vet office. This plays so well into the kiddos dramatic play and the vet clinic they still have set up and play with in our Rec Room.
They are loving life right now!!!
The kids really seem to be enjoying school. Lizzy does get very tired, however.
She doesn't like to wear her glasses, but we are working on it. It's so nice to have the kids able to work on their homework at the same time and in the same room. Micah and Lizzy need minimal help. Josh has become very creative and is now capable of completing all 25 of his spelling words each night. He is using a lot of descriptive words in his sentences. If the word were coach he would typically write something like: I like my soccer coach. But last week he wrote: My soccer coach told me to go down the court and score a goal! I am very impressed with his attitude towards his school work this year. I know his Autistic symptoms tell him not to settle down. If he gets too "wild" then we just set the timer for 15 minutes. He knows there will be an end and then he will have a break. When the timer goes off again he knows it's time to get back to work. I hope this attitude continues for the duration of the school year.
Micah and Lizzy both needed snuggle time tonight. They spent the evening with their father (all 3 of them). The 2 typically need more "mommy time" when they return and I of course am happy to oblige. They each received about 10 minutes of snuggle time before they settled in for the night.
